Lakanto (Monk fruit supplier link) has verified that monk fruit sugar crystallization is a characteristic of monk fruit sugar in liquids and syrups. If you do make the tonic with Monk fruit, we recommend freezing the the syrup in silicon ice cube trays and use as needed. See Storing & Serving Suggestions below.

Our organic botanicals are sourced from Mountain Rose Herbs, a company who since 1987 has been sourcing certified organic or pesticide-free plant products that are sustainably harvested. To make our № 27 Botanicals Tonic Kit ZERO Calorie, we used LAKANTO’s MonkFruit Sweetener in place of sugar (fructose) to produce a truly unique no calories Botanical Tonic Kit. Monk Fruit’s sweetness comes from mogrosides, which the body registers as an herb instead of a sugar. Monk Fruit extract does not elevate blood sugar levels or insulin, making it the perfect Tonic to sip on for people who are managing their blood sugars and weight. Please note, cold temperatures may cause syrups made with Monk Fruit to crystalize.

Storing & Serving Suggestions for Syrups Made with Monk fruit

We recommend freezing the Monk fruit syrup in silicon ice cube trays. To serve, scrape the frozen syrup from the ice cube tray into the glass, then add the spirit. The frozen syrup will quickly dissolve with the spirit when stirred around. Next, add the club soda to the mix and the ice cube last (pouring club soda over ice will fizzle the bubbles away).

Suggested Amounts for Drinks

Imbibing

1/2 oz Tonic Syrup + 3 oz Soda Water + 1 3/4 oz Gin. + Brandied Cherry & Grapefruit Twist.

Non-Imbibing

6 oz Soda Water + 1 oz Tonic Syrup + Lemon or Grapefruit Twist.

Add tonic syrup and spirit into a tall glass. Stir to mix the ingredients. Add club soda to the mix. Then, place the cubes of ice in the glass last (pouring club soda over ice will fizzle the bubbles away). Garnish with a brandied cherry and a twist of lemon or grapefruit peel.
